Milk Thistle seeds. These little seeds contain potent antioxidants that are taken into the liver cells and protect the cells from within, fantastic for maintaining an optimally functioning liver.

Hawthorn Berries. These bright red berries are full of antioxidant OPCs (oligomeric procyanidins is the full name but a bit of a mouthful). Another potent antioxidant herb that nourishes and supports the heart and circulation. So famous was its effects on the heart that it was known as ‘Father of the Heart’ and it was even reputed to mend a broken heart!

Equisetum arvense. Is an anti oxidant rich herb that promotes urinary tract and kidney health. Studies have also shown evidence of protective effects against radiation damage. It contains large amounts of silica which is very important for connective tissue strength and healthy nails and coat etc

Bilberry. Is a small dark fruit that is full of complex antioxidants, especially important for eyes and blood vessels. During WW2 pilots were given bilberry jam to improve their night vision

Echinacea purpurea. Is a North American flower and probably the most famous medicinal herb of our time. On top of being a potent immune system herb it has a number of other important properties that make it a great all round tonic. It promotes detoxification and wound healing. Native Americans even used it topically for snake bites.

Peppermint. Is a well known digestive tract herb. It has a relaxing calming effect on the intestines. It is also a cooling diaphoretic, this means it cools by inducing sweating, which is why mint tea is so popular in hot countries.

Curcuma longa. This root is widely used in Indian cooking and studies have shown it has anti inflammatory, anti oxidant, anti tumour, and anti viral properties as well as being a liver tonic

 Rosemary. This common culinary herb is often used as a natural preservative, and is particularly useful for meat products. It has very high concentrations of antioxidants and boosts circulation, particularly to the brain. The old saying ‘rosemary for remembrance’ alludes to this as it aids memory by increasing blood flow to the brain.

Foeniculum vulgare, This warming digestive herb relaxes the intestines and optimises the absorption of nutrients.

Nettle. This plant is so much more than the stinging nuisance it is usually considered. It is full of Iron and one of the best herbs known for building up blood levels and when recovering from disease. It is also a famous skin herb with many properties that improve skin condition and reduce itching.

Arctium lappa. Is a widespread native plant in the UK and one of the best known detox herbs available. Known as a ‘depurative’, it cleans out the whole system, great for clearing toxins, improving skin condition, reducing itching, and promoting healthy anal glands.

Chamomile. Is traditionally known as ‘mother of the gut’, it is well known for its calming qualities. It has a mild bitter action so improves digestion. Gentle enough to be given to babies but with a dependable action that is great for any skin or digestive issues especially when associated with stress.

Gentian. is another bitter tonic herb that promotes healthy digestion and improves the overall hygiene of the intestines making it less attractive to parasites.

Viola tricolor. This pretty little flower is renowned for its soothing effects on irritated skin and respiratory tract tissues. Very gentle and full of antioxidant flavonoids.
