  • Did you know most complete raw or dry dog food does not contain sufficient quantities of manganese or none at all?

Manganese....what is this and why does my dog need it?

Manganese is a trace of mineral and is needed to support bone growth and thyroid hormone production.

Without it causes manganese deficiency which can lead to

    reproductive issues

    skin and hair problems

    Bone and joint development issues

Dogs need around 2.3mg of manganese daily per 1lb of dry food and 0.7mg per 1lb of raw.

Manganese is found in organs mostly liver but you would have to feed 50% of liver daily to reach the recommended requirements and would make you dog pretty sick quickly. ( Dr Conor brady, Feeding Dogs)

Whole prey is another good source of manganese but would have to consume feathers, hide and hair.

As we know hair is a fantastic source but indigestible.

Best way and probably easiest way to source manganese is through muscles.

A muscle a day can provide them with enough manganese and also beneficial fats.
